After two years Dynasty is back with their Facedown Records debut Beyond Measure that immensely improves upon their first album Truer Living with a Youthful Vengeance, which had some songs that sounded alike and contained no guest vocalists but was a solid album nevertheless. This time around the band has a solid list of guests ranging from secular, Christian, and even hip hop groups and continues to play a unyielding example of no-frills hardcore music.

After the usual intro and the average “Brick By Brick” (that turns out to be the shortest song on the album) comes the standout, “Rise to Victory,” which is simple, intense, and has the best guest vocals on the album from Tommy Green of Sleeping Giant. The album continues to impress (despite the average “Omni-Death”) all the way until the very last song “Get Live.” While it is an interesting mix of metal and hip hop the song isn’t outstanding but does improve somewhat with its Beastie Boys reference near the end.

A vast improvement to their previous record, Dynasty has proven to be a rising star in the hardcore scene. With a noticeably energetic sound, anthemic lyrics, and improving musical skill I hope their next release on Facedown can produce a most excellent sophomore album.
